Project Overview

Blue Peak was brought in to support a major university’s spring commencement ceremony with a large-scale temporary structure. The event welcomed nearly 5,000 attendees, including graduates, faculty, and family.

The structure needed to be installed and removed within a narrow window – after finals week and before summer activities resumed. The goal was to provide a clean, professional setting for a milestone celebration without disrupting campus flow.

Challenge

The commencement ceremony was scheduled between the end of finals and the start of summer programs, leaving a tight window for both installation and teardown. The client needed a structure large enough to safely and comfortably accommodate a crowd of nearly 5,000, while still fitting within an active campus environment. The location required careful coordination to avoid disrupting pedestrian walkways, access roads, or nearby facilities. In addition, the structure had to be prepared for unpredictable spring weather, with full coverage and the ability to maintain interior comfort throughout the event.

Solution

Blue Peak provided a 25m x 107.5m structure, totaling nearly 29,000 square feet of covered space. Our team also:

  • Supplied CAD layout assistance to ensure every detail – from chair spacing to stage placement – was planned with precision
  • Built a custom stage platform with ADA-accessible ramp to support both visibility and accessibility requirements
  • Installed crowd control fencing around the perimeter of the structure and key campus access points
  • Provided guest seating for the entire audience, ensuring uniformity and efficient setup

The structure was installed and taken down under a tight window of time, allowing the university to maintain a tight event schedule with minimal disruption to campus operations. The final result was a polished, spacious, and functional environment worthy of a major academic celebration.
